3 Matthew McConaughey Quotes That Sum Up Life
Finding meaning, understanding life, and gaining awareness of others
Matthew McConaughey is a man that needs little introduction, but his book Greenlights (in fact the audiobook, which I strongly recommend as he narrates the story himself), stands out to me personally as one of his greatest performances.
The book imparts a colossal amount of Texan wisdom and is jam-packed with quotable soundbites, and I’m a sucker for that.
I love finding quotes or metaphors that eloquently summarize a feeling I never realized I had or a thought I’ve always wondered how to put into words.
Below are three such nuggets of wisdom, this time from his recent appearance on Lex Fridman’s podcast (which is itself a great source of information and entertainment).
1. Balancing Ambition & Presence
“We need to have a north star, something to look forward to. But we all know that if we’re staring at it we’re trippin’ on the way.”
Simply put — have something to work towards, but don’t forget to look down at what you’re doing along the way.
